About Phonics Blend

Phonics Blend is a beginning-sounds game. A picture appears with the first two letters of its word missing — fr for frog, st for star, sh for ship. Say the word out loud, listen to the sound it starts with and tap the matching blend. Choose consonant blends (two sounds you can hear, like fr), digraphs (two letters making one new sound, like sh) or a mix.

How to play

1. Look at the picture and say the word.
2. Listen to the very first sound.
3. Tap the blend or digraph that makes it.

Tips

Stretch the start of the word — "fffrrr-og" — and the two letters pop out.
